One of the weekly homework assignments in the figure drawing class under the supervision of Professor Mel Pekarsky, then Chairman of the Department of Art at SUNY Stony Brook, was to recreate the work of a master artist. In addition to this final piece, preliminary drawings were added to my developing sketchbook in an effort to meet another of his semester-long assignments which was to completely fill the sketchbook itself by semester's end. Having already worked with oils, pastels, craypas and acrylics this became my first effort using water colors, a harbinger of things to come.
